It’s streamers week at the Welsh Gaming Network and throughout this week we will be featuring a number of our Official Streamers for the WGN! Going through subject matter like who they are right through to what setups they have and why they started streaming in the first place! All in the style of an informal interview, let’s see what they have to say!
Rancid Insane is first up this week, I “sit down” with him to discuss his streaming career thus far.
Galeprime (GP): Hi Rancid thank you for taking time to be with me today to go through your passion, let’s start with an easy one. What is your in-game name and what is your stream channel address?
Rancid Insane (RI): Hi Gale it’s a pleasure to be here doing this for the WGN, my in-game name is Rancid Insane, I stream on Twitch and my channel address is www.twitch.tv/rancid_insane
GP: Great! Thanks for that, now let’s get into a bit more detail about you as a streamer, what are your current specs (PC/console)
RI: My pc specs are as follows:
- SCAN 3XS Gamer 15i Intel Core i5 6500 s1151 3.2GHz
- 2GB EVGA GTX960 SC ITX PCI-E Asus 3XS H110M-A/M.2
- Turtle Beach – Universal digital Stream Mic Astro A40TR & Mixamp Pro Headset
- Twin BenQ RL2755HM 27” Gaming Monitors
- Elgato Game Capture HD60 Logitech C920 HD Pro
- XBOX One
- PlayStation 4
GP: Do you have a picture you can share of your setup to our readers Rancid?
RI: Sure thing! (see below):
GP: What software/browser-based streaming aids do you use and why?
RI: I use OBS because I find it easy to set up and there are lots of YouTube videos to help with advanced settings and modifications.
Bot wise I use Ankhbot because there are a lot of different functions within it such as full integration. On that subject I actually use Spotify for my music when I am live as I find it has a great library of music and generally has most tracks my followers want to listen to. I also use nightbot as again its another easy to set up and use piece of third-party browser software and there are plenty of YouTube videos to help, Nightdev is also the same due it’s user friendliness.
For my layouts I use Streamlabs, not only is it free to use but it’s mega easy to set up but also featured a lot of advanced stuff so if you want to take your stream to the next level you can!
GP: What sort of content do you stream? What’s your core game/most popular title for your viewers?
RI: My preferred genre is first person shooter (FPS) in a Chilled environment. I really enjoy getting a chat going in stream and include as many of my followers in-stream as I can. My Core game is Destiny.
GP: Ok so what got you into streaming in the first place and what do you see it becoming in the next 12 months?
RI: I wanted to promote my Destiny Group on the 100.io and encourage a friend to stream (who was taking about it a lot). I sort of got the bug myself and here I am. I’m looking to carry on as I am and hopefully my viewer base will grow. I just got affiliated by Twitch so it would nice to still be in that situation in 12 months.
GP: That’s really interesting to hear! As a Twitch affiliate do you have any advice or inspiring words to give our readers who want to start streaming or have just started?
RI: Stream a game you enjoy playing and interact with your viewers. But only when they want to, leave the lurker’s lurk.
Galeprime: Rancid it’s been an honour and an absolute pleasure to talk to you, best of luck with your streams and I have no doubt we will be seeing more from you in the near future!
Rancid Insane: Thanks for having me Galeprime! See you in-stream everyone!
