“Whether it’s for the ultimate kid’s birthday party, a fun, family gaming session, or a pizza fueled, grown-ups gaming get-together, they can provide all your gaming party needs in our safe and friendly space, above WOODFIRED, a first-class Pizza and Burger restaurant.
We have the HTC Vive and Playstation VR as well as a growing library of next and older generation consoles and games, catering for casual as well as hardcore gamers.“
Once a month they run a pop up retro gaming night in the restaurant and bar. This month a few Welsh Gaming Network members went along to check it out.
If you’re interested in joining Welsh Gaming Network members at any of our events, come and say Hi on Discord!
The venue itself is Woodfired Pizza Kitchen – located in the heart of Merthyr town. The food is great and it’s a licensed bar so you can enjoy a beer while you play.
There were about a dozen retro systems available, from the Sega Master System through to the PS1 and 2. An emulator running a large number of games was also a big hit.
The biggest hit of the night was Guitar Hero 2 on the Wii, which saw gamers young and old taking turns to show off their inner Rock God!
In conclusion – highly recommended! It’s a perfect place where you can have a beer, enjoy some delicious food and watch/play the old classics with your kids. A fantastic family night!
The next event is a special event for Halloween where they’ll also have their VR systems setup with some horror games. See you there!
