This year’s Cardiff Anime & Gaming Convention is going to be a good one – taking place at the Mercure Holland Hotel, Cardiff on the weekends of February 10th to 11th and then again on August 19th to 20th. This is an event suitable for all ages for anime fans, gamers, comic fans and cosplayers. It’s run by Animeleague who run Anime & Gaming cons across the UK, including London, Bristol, Leicester, Norwich, Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham – in addition to the twice yearly event at Cardiff. It’s great to see a Welsh city in the mix so give it some support!
Here’s what you’ll find at the event:
- 80 stalls of merchandise and art
- Main stage events
- Cosplay tournaments & Photo zone
- Panel events and talks throughout the weekend
- Anime Chillout Room – watching Anime & Asian movies
- TCG, Board Games and RPG section run by Cardiff BRAWL
- Video game section
- Game Tournaments
The third floor of the hotel will be devoted to video games and will include over 50 consoles available in the console section for you to kick back, relax and play some games. There are a ton of game tournaments including Overwatch, LoL, Smash, Tekken 7, Mario Kart 8, Dragonball Fighter Z, Fifa 18, Rocket League and fun challenges throughout the weekend at a more casual level. You can sign up for all this stuff on the day.
Saturday finishes with the Big Geek Party, from 9pm until late you can party with friends whilst Sunday offers karaoke from 7-9pm and then the Farewell Glowstick Rave from 9pm until late.
