The University of South Wales (USW) has an impressive games industry roster of qualifications that has led to graduates working in top film, TV and game development countries not just in the UK, but around the world whilst others have gone on to be successful solo developers and found indie studios. Students work together on projects to create fully fledged games, some of which have gone on to win top events such as Transfuzer, be nominated for BAFTAs and winning BAFTA Cymru awards. Mike Bithell is a prime example of a successful graduate story. With his BA in Computer Games Design from USW in 2007, the creator of Thomas Was Alone and Subsurface Circular is now listed in the top 100 Most Influential People in the British Games Industry list.
At the Games Graduate Showcase you can see some of the games created by this years students and get chance to speak to their creators.
The Games Graduate Showcase takes place at Tramshed Tech, located in the Pontcanna area of Cardiff and will be on June 8th between 3pm and 9pm, with refreshments available at 6pm. This is going to be well worth a visit for future students, current students, or anyone with an interest in the gaming industry. It’s a chance to support future developers, as well as get a chance to meet people early on in their career and get a sneak peek at some future games!
